  • 1. What dose the motorhome rental prices include?

    UK Rental Price Includes:

    • Vat
    • Unlimited mileage
    • UK comprehensive vehicle insurance for 1 driver - limitations and excess applies
    • UK vehicle breakdown cover - limitations and ristrictions apply
    • Privilege club card to ‘The Camping and Caravanning Club’
    • Free parking for your car  – left at owners own risk (one vehicle only)
    • Free luggage storage
    • Free 30/45 minute motorhome hand over tour/check out before you depart

    European Rental Price Includes:


    Includes the above UK rental price.  Plus ...

    • Vehicle Insurance Document (Green Card)
    • European vehicle insurance - limitations and excess applies
    • European vehicle breakdown cover - limitations apply
    • European travel pack – (includes: warning triangle, spare bulbs, spare fuses, first aid kit and a hi-visibility jacket.)

    If you wish to take the vehicle outside of mainland UK then you will need to add 'European Cover' as an optional extra.  You must book 'European Cover' at the time of booking.  An additional charge will apply on top of our UK rental price for European hire.  If European cover has been quoted /booked the countires you are traverlling to outside of mainland UK will be stated on your quotation & booking confirmation.  Should the European contries be missing please ask for a new motorhome quotation.

  • 2. Can I drive the motorhome on a UK driving Licence?

    Wests can insure drivers between the ages of 25 -69 years of age. 


    Each driver must have:

    • held a full UK valid car driving licence for 3 years or more 
    • must be a regular driver
    • in good health (any medical history must be disclosed prior to booking)
    • free from any points/endorsements in the last 5 years and have not been band or disqualified from driving within the last 11 years. (If you have/had any points or endorsements etc, please tell us priory to booking, this is to ensure we can hire the vehicle to you.)
    • any vehicle accidents or claims in the last 3 years (fault/non fault) must be disclosed priory to booking. (This is to ensure we can hire the vehicle to you.)

    The main driver must take the vehicle on the day of collection and pay the security deposit on their card (for security reasons).  Please view section 12 'Security Deposit' .


    Additional drivers can come to our office to be added onto the motorhome insurance and rental agreement either at the time of collection or up to 14 days before departure.

  • 3. I have an EU driving licence can I still hire a motorhome from you?

    Yes.


    We can hire to you if you have a full valid EU car driving licence issued from any of the below countries...


    Please Note:  You will also need a valid 'International Drivers Permit' to accompany your full valid EU car driving licence.


    Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungry, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden

     

    If your country is not listed above this does not mean we cannot hire to you.  Please complete the rental enquiry form and we will always try to obtain cover and provide you with a motorhome rental quotation.

  • 4. I have a non UK/EU driving licence can I still hire a camper van from you?

    Yes, to certain countries


    We can cover 

    • Australia 
    • Canada 
    • New Zealand
    • South Africa
    • Switzerland

    Please Note:  You will also need a valid 'International Drivers Permit' to accompany your full valid car driving licence.


    Other countries not listed will require an insurance clearance authorisation  before booking.  


    Drivers must be:

    • between the ages of 25 -69 years of age

  • 5. I have points, endorsements, convictions on my driving licence can I still hire.

    We can accept up to 2 minor endorsements per driver (no more than a total of 6 points) under the following codes - CU10-80, SP10-60, PC10-50, TS10-70. Minor convictions/endorsements with these conviction codes are on your driving licence for a minimum of 4 years before they are removed.


    If you have more than 2 minor convictions/endorsements (6 points or more) on your licence or have any endorsements/convictions starting with the following letters: BA, CA, CD, DD, DR, IN, MS, and TT please contact our office or complete a hire enquiry form. Please supply the following information to assist us with your insurance clearance and rental quotation:

    • date of offence
    • date of conviction
    • endorsement/offence code
    • fine amount
    • ban period
    • number of points issued
    • and any additional information you would like to supply.
  • 6. Myself or a person in my party have limited mobility or are disabled, can we still hire?

    Unfortunately we do not hire wheelchair accessible motorhomes or motorhomes that are designed for persons that have any problems or restrictions with their mobility.

  • 7. Is there a minimum motorhome rental period?

    We have a minimum rental period of 7 days.  But we can sometimes accept last minute bookings that are booked 7 days before collection where we may consider a minimum of a 4 day UK rental. Subject to availability, terms and conditions apply.


    Our latest deals offer great value for money and some are available/unsold dates in-between other bookings which offer rental periods of under 7 days.  Deals are regualary updated.


    European (outside of mainland UK) hire is a minimum of 7 days and subject to availability.  Please always contact us as we will always try to accommodate your booking.


    Wests Motorhomes reserve the right to increase the rental period on certain dates throughout the year i.e. Glastonbury, V-Festival, Bestival, Sport fixtures, premium dates etc. for further details please contact our office.

  • 8. How do I make a motorhome hire booking?

    New Customers:


    Email us for a 'Request To Book A Motorhome Form'.

    The main driver must fully complete and sign the form, then return you completed form as soon as possible.  All bookings are on a first come first served basis and are subject to satisfactory checks etc. before the booking is accepted. Once your booking is accepted, the booking deposit must be paid within 24 hours to confirm you booking.


    Returning Customers:

    As a returning customer you get 'Priory Booking'.

    The main driver will need call our office to book the motorhome.  Payment of the non refundable booking deposit will be required at the time of booking, we will then email you a booking form, which the main driver needs to fully complete, sign and email back within 48 hours to complete their motorhome booking.


    To qualify for Priorty booking, the main drivers basic information from the previous motorhome rental/checks must still be viewable on Wests rental system.  Should we be unable to view this, we will need to re-upload you as a new customer and the booking procedure will processed as stated above under 'New Customer.'

    We strongly advise our customers/hirer's to take out an insurance should you need to cancel the booking for any reason or not take the motorhome for any reason, but even more so as during these uncertain and extraordinary times, please ensure you take out a holiday or tavel insurance or or any other necessary insurance that also covers and protects you and your group. We advise you to make sure your insurance also covers cancellations and anything Covid/illiness related, unforseen delays and cancellations for, before, during and after your motorhome rental.  Failure to do so is at your own risk and loss.  

    We DO NOT sell this insurance cover.

  • 9. Is a deposit required at the time of booking?

    Yes.


    A £500.00 (GBP )  plus a £10.00 admin booking fee  is required at the time of booking (this taken off you total rental charge.) The booking deposit and admin fee are non refundable, non transferable.

    The remaining rental balance is due 6 weeks before collection (unless stated otherwise on your motorhome booking confirmation email).


    If you are booking within 6 weeks of the collection date, then the full rental balance plus the £10.00 booking fee is required at the time of booking. This is classed as the non refundable, non transferable booking deposit.


    An security deposit (excess) is required upon collection of the motorhome, which must be paid by the main drivers visa debit or visa/mastercard credit card via chip and pin in our office. 


    If you do not live in the UK we can only accept the excess security deposit by the main drivers visa or mastercard credit card via chip and pin in our office.

  • 10. What charges apply if I cancel my booking?

    More than 6 weeks ( more than 42 days) 

    cancellation notice:

    Your non refundable booking deposit or the rental charge - Whichever is the lesser amount.


    Between 6 weeks (42 days) – 4 weeks (29 days) cancellation notice :

    Your non refundable booking deposit or 50% of the total rental charge - Whichever is the greater amount, Except where the rental charge is lower than the booking deposit, then the full rental fee will be charged.


    4 weeks (28 days) or less cancellation notice, Including failure to collect the vehicle on time, incorrect identification, driver not within our creita:

    100% of the total hire charge - No refund would be issued.


    Unfortunately Wests Motorhome Hire UK cannot postpone or transfer money from one hire to another.


    Travel/Holiday Insurance

    We strongly advise our hirer's to take out a travel/holiday insurance, but even more so as during these uncertain and extraordinary times, please ensure you take out an insurance or any other necessary cover that also covers and protects you and your group. Please make sure it also covers cancellations and anything Covid related, unforseen delays and cancellations for, before, during and after your motorhome rental. Failure to do so is at your own risk and loss.  

    We DO NOT sell this cover. 

  • 11. What Identification do I need when I collect the Motorhome?

  • 12. Is there a security deposit required?

    Yes,


    A standard security deposit of £1250.00 when renting during low, mid and high season will apply to every hire. 


    A standard security deposit of £1500.00 when renting during winter season and for festivals, rental periods under 7 days or over 20 days, will apply to every hire.


    A standard security deposit of £2000.00 when renting for high risk events such as Euro Football etc. will apply to every hire.


    Non UK licence holders secuirty deposit are increased by £250.00 will apply to every hire, This is on top of the standard secuirty deposit listed above.


    If the driver has any:

    • points/conviction(s)/endorsement(s) on their licence driving licence 
    • accident(s)/insurance claim(s) 
    • non UK licence holder etc. 

    The security deposit may increase accordingly.


    The security deposit is also the excess amount which is due upon collection of the vehicle and must be paid on the main driver's visa debit or visa/mastercard credit card via chip and pin.  We only accept mastercard debit card if the card is issued from a UK high street bank i.e. Santander, Metro, Natwest, RBS.


    Non UK Residents must pay using their visa or Mastercard credit card via chip and pin.  We will not accept any other card, only credit card.

  • 13. If I damage the vehicle is there an excess to pay?

    Yes,


    A excess of £1000.00 when renting during low, mid and high season will apply to every hire. 


    A excess of £1250.00/£1450.00 when renting during winter season and for festivals, non UK licence holders, rental periods under 7 days or over 20 days, will apply to every hire.


    A excess of £2000.00 when renting for high risk events such as Euro Football etc. will apply to every hire.

    • If the driver has any: points/conviction(s)/endorsement(s) on their licence driving licence 
    • accident(s)/insurance claim(s)/claim(s) , 
    • non UK licence holder etc.

    The security deposit may increase accordingly. etc. will apply to every hire.  (unless stated otherwise on your rental agreement)


    The excess is also the security deposit amount due upon collection.


    The excess amount is payable on each and every damage, loss, accident, claim and insurance claim.

  • 14. What is not covered under the insurance and excess?

    • over head damage
    • width restriction damage 
    • any damage by gross negligence, hirers induced, preventable, overloading or misuse 
    • the accessories it was hired out with
    • any internal damage including stain, marks etc. 
    • motorhome accessories 
    • additional rental items/optional extras hired/taken
    • any unauthorised repairs, parts, recovery etc. 
    • any unauthorised costs, charges, parts etc.

    The hirer is liable for all of the above and will be charged the full amount.

  • 15. Can I protect my security deposit/insurance excess?

    Yes,


    There are many companies on the internet that can provide you with 'motorhome hire excess insurance'.

  • 16. Can I take your camper van out of mainland UK?

    Yes.


    We do allow you to take the motorhome into Ireland and Western Europe but at an additional charge.  Please contact us  to check which countries we allow our vehicles to travel to or complete an online enquiry form for a motorhome rental quotation.


    During COVID we can only offer UK rental.

  • 17. Can I take a pet in your motorhome?

    Yes. 


    We allow dogs in our motorhomes at no extra cost.

    Please state you will be taking a dog at the time of booking and on your request to book a motorhome form.

    We do ask that you do not allow your dog on the soft furnishings and not to leave them unattended in the motorhome. The motorhome must be cleaned throughly inside before returning the vehicle to the rental depot or additional cleaning charges will apply.

  • 18. Do you deliver and collect the motorhome?

    Sorry, we currently do not offer this service. 

  • 19. Do Your Offer a Transfer Service if we are coming from abroad?

    Please visit our 'How To Get To Us' page, where there is useful information on how to get us from road, air and train.


    If you are flying in to the UK from overseas, please visit our 'Flying' page where there is useful information and how to arrange/pre-order a private taxi to bring you to our motorhome rental loaction.


    We do offer a FREE transfer service from our local Train Stations in Rainham, Essex.

    Rainham (Essex) Train Station is on the C2C network from London Fenchurch Street Line.

  • 20. How do I get to Wests Motorhome Hire?

    We are just off junction 30/31 of the M25 on the A1306 in Rainham.

  • 21. Can I leave my car at Wests Motorhome Hire?

    Yes.


    We do not charge to you to park your car in our yard whilst renting a motorhome from us.  Please make us aware of this at the time of booking that you wish to leave your car.  Your car will be parked in our yard, with our vehicles.  You leave your vehicle with us at your own risk.    

    One car can be left in our yard, should you wish to park an additional vehicle, please contact us.

  • 22. What does the motor home come with?

  • 23. Is there a TV/DVD on board the motorhome?

    Yes.


    A TV player is supplied as standard equipment.

  • 24. Do you hire pedal bikes?

    Yes.


    We have adults and child bicycles. Bicycles are supplied with adjustable cycle helmet, padlock and key.

  • 25. Is bed linen included?

    Bed linen and towels are not included as standard, but can be hired from us and put in your motorhome ready for your departure.

  • 26. Can I fit a baby seat in the motorhome?

    Most baby seat, car seat or booster seats can be fitted in to the motorhome at your own risk, we cannot fit them for you.


    Unfortunately, the motorhome's do not have ISO fix anchor points, so you must have a car seat that can be fitted using a 3 point seat belt.

    We also hire baby seats, car seat and booster cushions for all ages at a small fee.

  • 27. How many miles per gallon should I expect?

    All motor homes will do roughly 20-25 miles (or more) per gallon - subject to driver, vehicle weight and driving conditions.

  • 28. Do you have information on any campsites?

    All our vehicles are provided with a ‘Privilege Club Card’ to The Camping and Caravan Club.  

    This is a temporary membership to The Camping and Caravanning club that is included in your rental at no extra cost, giving you the benefit of greater choice and saving money when searching for the perfect campsite location.  


    The club provides thousands of campsites across the UK and Europe, so it’s a great place to start when planning you motorhome holiday break.

  • 29. How do I return my motorhome?

    All motorhomes must be returned back to our Rainham, Essex depot on the correct date and time stated on your rental agreement.  


    Please allow up to 30 minutes for the return check in.  Vehicles must be returned undamaged, with the correct amount of fuel, adblue and gas (as stated on your rental agreement) with the waste water and toilet cassette emptied and the interior and toilet clean throughly and in the same condition as it left the depot, otherwise a charge will be made for additional valeting and/or upholstery cleaning.  

    A seperate toilet cleaning charge will apply if the toilet cassette and area is not cleaned and emptied. The vehicle cannot be checked in until all your personal belongings have been removed.
    Please allow extra time for unpacking the vehicle, cleaning and any traffic delays in your schedule to ensure you return the motorhome back on time for its next rental.  Most motorhome are booked out again the same day you return.  

  • 30. How can I pay?

    We accept payment from the main driver's:


    Visa debit card 

    Visa credit card

    Mastercard credit card 

    Bank Transfer - please contact us for our bank details. 

    The excess deposit can only be paid upon collection by a UK debit or credit card via chip and pin.  

    If you do not live in the UK, we can only accept payment by visa or mastercard credit card via chip and pin.


    We cannot accept pre-paid cards, travel cards or cards that are not in the name of the main driver etc.

  • 31. Motorhome Weight Limits

    There are weight limits and ristrictions on all vehicles including our rental motorhomes.


    For example: If your renting a 4 berth motorhome, then only a maximum of 4 people can be on board the motorhome within the weight limit.  


    The manifactures of our rental motorhomes design and build the motorhome on the bases each persons weight as 75kg per person.  

     

    The Mass in Running Order is the mass of the

    unladen vehicle including a 75kg allowance for the

    driver plus engine coolants and 90% of the fuel tank and 1 x 6kg Calor gas cylinder.

    The MRO is calculated with the fresh water tank

    empty. If you travel with water in the fresh water

    tank then the payload will reduce accordingly.

    PLEASE TAKE CARE TO ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE

    ALLOWED FOR THE MASSES OF ALL ITEMS YOU INTEND TO CARRY IN THE MOTOR CARAVAN e.g. passengers, optional equipment, essential, habitation equipment and personal effects, such as clothing, food, pets, bicycles, sailboards, sports

    equipment etc.


    WARNING - UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES

    SHOULD THE MAXIMUM TECHNICAL PERMISSIBLE

    LADEN MASS OF THIS MOTOR CARAVAN/MOTORHOME BE EXCEEDED.  THIS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HIRER AND DRIVERS.
