How to get a licence share code for renting a vehicle
As you will be aware, the paper counterpart of the UK driving licence will be abolished as of Monday (8th June 2015) as well as points and endorsements will no longer be put on to your licence, but on to the gov.uk website.
This is for UK driving licence holders only.
Below is the web address provided by the GOV.uk so that you can obtain your licence share code.
It is a requirement when hiring a vehicle you must now produced a this code so that the rental company can access your UK driving licence information, such as penalty points, endorsements and vehicle you can drive etc, so please bring it with you upon collection of your vehicle or call us 2 days before with your code.
Share codes are valid for 21 days and can only be used once, so you will have to obtain a new code for every rental.
To get a driving licence share code you will need to visit the GOV.UK website by using the below link.
You will need to know the following information when appling:
- Drivers full driving licence number
- Drivers national insurance number
- Drivers post code from the front of their driving licence
How to create a share code:
- go to www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
- Click on the 'Start Now' button
- Insert your
- Driving licence number
- National Insurance Number
- Your post code
- Tick the box for 'I Agree' and then click-on the 'View Now' button
- Your personal details will apear -
- Click on the 4th tab across the top of the screen named 'Share My Licence Information'
- Click on the 'Create A Code' button
- A case sensitive code will appear, please ensure you write if down exactley as it appears, and bring it with upon collection of your motorhome.
We do ask that you know or write down your national insurance number incase the licence share code does not work and we need you to create another one when you are at our depot.
A share code is require for each and every driver, we cannot give you a vehicle without a valid share code.
