Paperwork Required To Hire a Campervan or Motorhome

Please read all the following information to understand the Identification we at Wests Motorhome Hire UK require from all drivers wishing to drive the rental vehicle.
  • ALL drivers must attend our office to be put on the rental vehicle insurance, unless they have attended in advance, prior to collection.
  • Payment for the rental vehicle can only be paid on the main drivers debit or credit card (unless you are booking the vehicle in the name of a company, tv, film crew etc where we will accept payment via bank transfer, but the driver will need to also make a small payment via their debit or credit card for security reasons.)
  • If you do not live in the UK, or do not have a UK driving licence, then payment must be from the main drivers credit card, we cannot accept a debit card as payment, this is for security reason.
  • The security deposit/excess must be paid by the main card via chip and pin in our office. 
  • Any payment card(s) must be produced upon collection of the vehicle, unless you are a company where a colour copy can be emailed to us along with your order.

We cannot accept copies -  of any driving licence, passport, debit card or credit card, please ensure each driver brings their original documents as identification.  Proofs of address can be downloaded and printed off or emailed to us for printing.  The must be the same as if they were posted.

IF YOU LIVE IN THE UK
All the below documents must be in the name of the driver(s)

Please check your name and address on all your documents match your name and address on your current valid driving licence.

If they do not match, we cannot accept them.  All Documents must match.


1. Full valid current driving licence ... either:

 

  • Valid UK photo driving licence and valid  licence check code or
  • Old paper driving licence with valid passport and valid  licence check code or 
  • Full valid EU driving licence valid passport and international driving permit.
  • A valid international driving permit is now required.  Please ensure the permit covers all the countries you will be travelling to/through.

 

2. Valid debit card or credit card (non UK licence holders must pay by credit card only)


3. Two different forms of address identification – this can be a recent 

 

  • It must be addressed to the driver in their current home address and dated within the last 3 months/90 days. 

 

(Example: 1 x Barclays bank statement and 1 x British Gas bill = two different companies)

 

  • Recently issued - gas / electric bill
  • Recently issued - water bill /sewage bill
  • Recently issued - council tax invoice/statement  (must be dated within 90 days of your motorhome collection date)
  • Recently issued - landline telephone bill
  • Recently issued - home broadband bill
  • Recently issued - credit card statement
  • Recently issued - bank statement
  • Recently issued - mortgage statement
  • Recently issued - HMRC invoice/letter

 

4. Payment for the security deposit required upon collection - method (Visa, MasterCard or Debit, belonging to the main driver) 

     You must have your physical bank/payment card on you, we do not accept contactless.  You will need to pay via chip and pin.


5. When travelling to Europe please bring your valid passport and your valid International Driving Permit(s) as we will need to take a copy of them prior to departure/before you can take the motorhome.  If you have a UK driving licence you can obtain an International Driving Permit from most Post Offices - click here .   Please be aware - you may need more than one International Driving Permit depending on which countries you are travelling in/through.  Please ensure you get your permit(s) IN- ADVANCE.


A valid UK licence 'Check Code' - click here on how to obtain your code. - you cannot hire without a a valid working code and all the identification documents.


PLEASE REMEMBER:   IF YOU CANNOT PROVIDE THE ABOVE REQUIRED IDENTIFICATION AND METHOD OF PAYMENT, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HIRE A VEHICLE AND YOU WILL LOSE THE FULL DEPOSIT & HIRE THAT HAS BEEN PAID TO WESTS SM MOTORS LTD. We accept no liability for you not providing the correct identification or a driver that does not fit our driver criteria. 


I.D WE DO NOT ACCEPT:

Mobile phone bills, debt letters, parking tickets or similar, log books, car tax reminder, wage slips, P60 or P45, finance agreements, insurance letters/certificate, catalog or store card invoices/bills/letters etc, over due/final notice letters, eviction notices, pension letters etc.

All the below documents must be in the name of the driver(s)

Please check your name on all your documents match your name on your licence. If they do not match, we cannot accept them. All Documents must match.


1. Full valid driving licence

  • Non UK driving licences will require a valid International driving permit as well as their full valid driving licence.  Please check to ensure the permit covers all the countries you wish to travel to/through, as you may need more than one permit.
  • Please make sure the driving licence' valid from date' or' date of test' is on the licence to prove you have held a full driving licence for 3 years or more.  If it does not have these date on the driving licence,  then you will need to provide the previous full driving licence(s) upon collection to prove you have held a full car driving licence for 3 years or more. 
  • Restrictions and limitation apply, please check we can insure you on the country your driving licence is issued from before booking.

 

2. Credit Card - Visa or Mastercard Credit Card

  • We do not accept American Express or debit cards etc.

4.  Proof of Current Home Address - we can accept either a Bank Statement or Credit Card Statement

  • It must have state on it:
  • driver name and current home address, this must match their name and address on their driving licence
  • It must have an issue date within 90 days of the date you collect the rental motorhome, if it is dated any older we cannot accept it.


5.  Proof of Arrival and Departure:

  • this can be either a Flight or Boat : schedule, inventory or boarding pass as proof of you coming and leaving the UK
  • it must state on it
  • the drivers name
  • date of arrive to the UK with flight/boat number etc
  • date of departure from the UK with flight/boat number etc
  • service provider - i.e the airline/cruise company name/details etc.


6. Payment for the security deposit/excess required upon collection -

  • We will only accept a credit card - Visa or Mastercard, belonging to the main driver.   
  • We do not accept pre-paid cards, travel cards, debit cards, a card not in the name of the main driver and home address of the driver.
